How the new ETNODIM project: Embroidery kits started

Embroidery during work or with a glass of wine. Because embroidery with Etnodim is primarily about combination. Brand combination with our customers. The combination of our style with your skills and their development. The combination of joy from the result, with joy from the process.

We follow the statistics of orders, see photos in social networks and read reviews with pleasure. But it became interesting for us to look into the process. Therefore, we armed ourselves with questions and contacted 4 clients who actively covered the moments of creating embroidery on Instagram.

Elena Stokoz

"Embroidery is a pleasure from the process, it is micro-movement and motor skills that are so lacking now, the pleasure of color and pattern, as well as the satisfaction of understanding what you are doing your own hand-made."

1. Was it difficult to understand the pattern for embroidery?

I did not have to deal with the embroidery pattern - it is so simple and obvious that the embroidery process is intuitive. It’s convenient that there is a video instruction, and it’s also convenient that the video is short - 40 seconds. 5 minutes and you are ready to embroider.

2. Was it easy for you to embroider, or did you want sophisticated technique?

Embroidering in the sense of technology is quite simple, but the embroidery process itself is long, since embroidery is large and you need to embroider in practice for a long time and with concentration. Although the technique is simple, it is interesting to embroider due to successful patterns, selected colors. There is excitement to embroider to see what kind of picture is taking shape. So, a parallel with the painting is appropriate here.

3. Did you embroider earlier? If so, who taught? If not, what inspired to try?

I had never embroidered and didn’t do needlework at all, except for amateur attempts at oil painting. I learned on my own in 5 minutes having received a constructor from Etnodim.

During quarantine and isolation, you get so tired of online work and online leisure and online training, I want to switch to a completely different activity - to do something with my hands. Therefore, probably, everyone began to cook, draw, and Ethnodim clients - to embroider.

“Quarantine is a push, but this product will not lose its popularity and relevance due to the fact that embroidery in our genetic memory, hands ask to embroider themselves. In addition, the product is interactive - this is the innovation: not just bought a finished product, but bought it finished product and creatively finalized it myself. "

4. What was the reaction of your friends on social networks to what you embroider?

Judging by the comments, everyone was interested and followed the embroidery process (I published intermediate photos). Many asked about the technique, and what kind of pattern it is, and from which part of Ukraine it comes from. They admired and were surprised that she had embroidered a whole shirt in a rather short period of time - one and a half weeks. Two of my friends were inspired by my example and the designers also bought for themselves - especially after they saw that I took up shirt No. 2.

5. How much time per day / week did embroidery take? How much time did you spend?

Embroidery organically woven into my everyday life, so it’s hard for me to calculate how many hours a day I spent, but embroidered every day. I embroidered the first shirt in a week and a half. The second shirt with a massive ornament, so I expect to spend up to three weeks.

6. Is it possible to compare the embroidery process with meditation, relaxation? What would you compare with?

The embroidery process is exactly meditation. I would also compare it with the painting - the process and feelings are very similar. I paint, but now I’ve completely switched to embroidery and get the same emotions as from painting.

7. What did you manage to combine the embroidery process with?

Perhaps this is unexpected, but I successfully combined embroidery with work. I embroidered during daily online meetings (when I needed to use the video). At the same time, there was no negative impact on the productivity or effectiveness of the meetings. On the contrary - I was fully included in the discussion and the generation of ideas and solutions, and at the end of the meeting I was astonished to find that I had embroidered a rather large piece mechanically, being included in the work. Embroidery has proven to be very effective in overcoming tension and stress. During difficult negotiations, embroidery helped to maintain an emotional balance. This is a very interesting phenomenon. By profession, I am a translator - synchronist.

When I studied simultaneous translation many years ago, my teacher told me that often experienced translators take knitting or embroidery with them to the translation booth (when translating in a headset, hands are free), because it helps to focus better and keep a balanced cold mind.

Anastasia Solomakha

"I relax a lot while embroidering, it gives me great pleasure to realize that I can do something with my own hands and then use that thing."

1. Was it easy for you to embroider, did you want a more complex technique?

At first I had to get used to a new technique for me (I used to embroider mostly with a cross), but after the first flower I got used to it. Now, of course, I would like something more complicated.

My closest friends also love to embroider and one of them is already embroidering your shirt. Most people really liked the idea, but they doubt whether they will be able to embroider something for themselves.

1. Was it difficult to understand the scheme for embroidery? Have you embroidered before?

Everything is very simple and clear. Is that, at first it was not clear how to embroider: in one thread or two. Embroidery was almost a novelty for me, I did not embroider with this technique from school. It was a great experience. The first patterns were quite uncertain, but over time it became easier and more enjoyable. Before that I embroidered a lot with a cross.

2. What was the reaction of your friends in the social. nets on what you embroider?

A lot of friends know that I embroider, so it was no secret. Some friends asked: where to get such a cool set. I'm sure every girl secretly dreams of creating her own embroidered shirt.

3. How much time per day / week was spent on embroidery? How much time did you spend in total?

Embroidery is my weakness, I can embroider day and night without being distracted. This time she tried to combine work and embroidery, so on weekends she could sit in the morning and at 3 am remember that it was time to go to bed. On weekdays I spent an hour or two, or took a break for a few days. In general, the embroidered shirt took 2.5 weeks, of which I had to wait a few days for the threads (I embroider very tightly, so I lacked quite a bit, and Etnodim gladly and very quickly helped to solve this problem).

4. What did you manage to combine the embroidery process with?

I really like to embroider in the evening for movies or TV series.

"For me, embroidery, like a time machine, translates into different memories and reminds me of childhood. I think it's really a way to meditate."

1. Was it difficult to understand the scheme for embroidery? Was it easy for you to embroider, or did you want more complex techniques?

No, it's not difficult at all. In addition, the videos are very informative. It is embroidered easier than I expected. And even very quickly. I think in the future I would like something more complicated.

2. What was the reaction of your friends in the social. nets on what you embroider?

Friends divided into two camps. Those who knew what I could do and that it had long been my hobby. And the other half, who was very surprised and asked a lot of questions about what it is and where I got it.

3. How much time per day / week was spent on embroidery? How much time did you spend in total?

There is time to embroider only on weekends. From the first time I was delighted to embroider all day. In general, the designer probably spent 10 hours.

4. What did you manage to combine the embroidery process with?

The best combination for me is an audiobook. I bought the following Ukrainian literature especially for your designer. It turned out very authentic.
