The art of embroidery

The Etnodim story began with the revival of traditional Ukrainian patterns. Today, our designs transcend nostalgia, existing instead as an ongoing conversation with art, history, the world, and ourselves. We explore the endless forms of embroidery, merging the contemporary with the authentic. By experimenting with color, technique, and texture, we elevate Ukrainian embroidery to a new artistic level.

Process

Etnodim is a contemporary embroidered apparel brand and research center. Every collection we create is guided by three core pillars: research, design, and development.

Research

The development of each collection begins with extensive research. Our research and design teams meticulously study heritage garments and museum archives, uncovering new names, design motifs, and facts across history, culture, and art.

Design

Our designers weave this research into patterns, shape silhouettes, and select fabrics and trims. This phase is defined by constant experimentation—playing with colors and textures, and developing new embroidery techniques and forms.

Development

The development phase brings together patternmaking, embroidery programming, and precision tailoring. We are meticulous about every stitch, inspecting each finished garment and hand-refining the embroidered details.

Team

In 2009, we started as a team of two, seeking out and collaborating with artisans across Ukraine to bring vyshyvankas to life. Today, we are a team of 165, with our own production facility in Kyiv and showrooms in Kyiv and Lviv.
