Lions symbolize three milestones in the struggle for independence. They are depicted on the coat of arms along with oak leaves.
The letter "Є" and a sword are symbols depicted on the Cross of Liberty, an award presented to fighters during the Estonian War of Independence.
The collar and cuffs of the shirt are adorned with blue cornflowers – the national flower of Estonia. It was often found in rye fields, directly associated with bread and fertility
